Metallography, the third eye of the metallurgist. How well do you know the material you hold in your hand? What meets your naked eye is but a fraction of the hidden wealth of knowledge behind the specimen’s microstructure. A microscope, an etchant, some polishing gear and your simple hands account for all you are provided with. Investigate the history of metallurgical treatments and processes imparted on to a given sample work piece and solve the mystery behind its microstructure. Trust onto your third eye!

Rules:

Team of two members.
Event to be held in the department of MME Metallography lab.

Workshop 1
Experience the latest technological advancements in Metallurgy IN and OUT.

I)   Advanced Sintering Techniques
II)  Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation (PEO) Coatings
III) NDT Techniques ( MPT and UT)
IV) Friction Stir Welding of Tubes.

COST: Rs 100

Workshop 2
An Industrial Visit to the Golden Rock Railway Workshop, Ponmalai.

The Central Workshops, situated in Ponmalai (Golden Rock), Tiruchirapalli in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, is one of the three mechanical railway workshops serving the southern zone of the Indian Railways.
